Glanceway Glanceway

A stock ticker for your Mac menu bar

Glanceway turns your macOS menu bar into a live stock ticker. Add the Stock Price source for US markets, the CN Stock Price source for A-shares, and Finnhub for breaking news — all three stream into one dropdown, right next to the clock.

US and Chinese markets, same menu bar

The Stock Price source covers US-listed equities: AAPL, MSFT, TSLA, whatever tickers you follow. Add them as a comma-separated list, pick a refresh interval, and Glanceway streams price, change, and percent move into the menu bar.

For Chinese A-shares and Hong Kong listings, the CN Stock Price source does the same thing against the Chinese market data endpoints. Both can run in parallel — watch your US tech basket and your 沪深300 at the same time.

Prices plus the news that moves them

A ticker alone answers "what," not "why." Pair Stock Price with Finnhub News for US market headlines, or with Wall Street CN / Jin10 / CLS Telegraph for the Chinese breaking-news wires that actually move A-shares. All the signals you'd normally juggle across three tabs, in one menu bar list.

Built to stay out of your way

Glanceway is glance-first by design: click the icon, scan the list, click the one row that matters. You're never pulled into an app — the menu bar is just a surface for the signal, not an environment you get stuck in. That's the whole difference between a "stock app" and a ticker.

Frequently asked questions

Which markets does the Stock Price source cover? +

The default Stock Price source targets US markets. For Chinese A-shares and HK listings, use the dedicated CN Stock Price source — both are community-installable.

Can I watch multiple tickers? +

Yes. Both stock sources accept a comma-separated list of ticker symbols and fetch them in parallel.

How fresh are the quotes? +

Refresh interval is configurable per source. The actual data latency depends on the upstream provider — read each source's detail page for specifics.

Does this replace a real trading app? +

No. Glanceway is a glance layer — it shows prices and news but doesn't place trades. Use it alongside your broker app, not instead of it.
