The CoinGecko source for Glanceway puts live crypto prices in your Mac menu bar. Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, any coin on CoinGecko — pick the list, pick the currency, and watch the market move without opening a single tab.
Any coin, any currency
The CoinGecko source accepts a comma-separated list of coin IDs and a display currency. Track five tokens or fifty; display in USD, EUR, JPY, CNY, or any CoinGecko-supported quote currency. Items show name, symbol, price, and 24-hour change, sorted however you prefer.
Refresh interval is configurable per source, so you can run it tight for day-trading or loose for casual watching.
More than spot prices — pair with news
Price without context is just numbers. Pair the CoinGecko source with the Wall Street CN, Jin10, or CLS Telegraph breaking-news sources and you've got prices + narrative in the same menu bar dropdown. When BTC moves 3% in five minutes, you'll see the headline that caused it.
Why a menu bar ticker beats an exchange tab
Keeping Coinbase or Binance open all day is a distraction machine — the whole page is designed to make you trade. A menu bar price strip is the opposite: minimal, out of the way, one click to the exchange if you actually need it.
And because Glanceway is a general-purpose menu bar reader, your crypto prices live next to whatever else you watch: work notifications, news, RSS, whatever. No context switch.

CoinGecko's public API is free and doesn't require a key for normal usage. Check the source detail page for any rate-limiting caveats.
Which currencies are supported? +
Any fiat or crypto quote currency supported by CoinGecko — USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, CNY, BTC, ETH, and many more. Pick the one you want in the source config.
How many coins can I track at once? +
The source accepts a comma-separated list of coin IDs. You can track many — the practical limit is API rate limits and menu bar real estate, not the source itself.
Does this work for stock prices too? +
The CoinGecko source is crypto-only. For stocks, use the Stock Price source (US markets) or the CN Stock Price source (Chinese A-shares) — both are installable the same way.
